We walked some of the higher woodland paths for a change, and encountered a few of the tall non-natives in the woods! The bark is ridged and dark reddish-brown and typical of Western Red Cedar..... planted
long ago by the (then) estate owner.

I ended up reading the forestandland.gov.scotland 10 year plan for the area, now halfway through. It’s quite ambitious; they’ve certainly done some of it though, I’ve seen it on my wanderings.
