Overflow....

Early this morning Maisie and I walked from home to the river paths leading to the downtown area. We returned home via the same route. The day was sunny but with a strong breeze which gradually increased to almost gale force later in the day.
This part of Riverside Park is an area recently redeveloped and named The Quays. The paths and parts of the wooden boardwalk are subject to tidal inundation. This has occurred since the Kaikoura Earthquake of November 2019. The Opawa River bed downstream from this site changed quite dramatically and the dynamics of water flow altered causing the inundation as seen here. The Council may need to dredge the lower reaches to alleviate this problem.
