A piece of Byzantium

Byzantium city walls has not been excavated. In last 650 years, pieces of it were used to construct new city after the conquest by Ottomans. A friend of us started a hotel project in the neighborhood, excavated one of the watch-tower remaining. The result is magnificent. I do wonder what my house was built on, a palace maybe?
Istanbul, Constantinapolis, is full of surprises.
