William Blake

I finally got to Tate Britain today with Paul and Anne.

What a busy boy William Blake was.

I especially loved his earlier, detailed etchings with their exquisite observation. The later work losing something with scale and reliance on dreams for subject matter.

Probably best known for illustrating Dante's Divine Comedies we decided to avoid visceral nightmares by visiting the Rex Whistler for lunch.

Seafood ravioli, followed by venison with artichoke and pear later, plus the cheeseboard and copious wine, we had truly stuck a thumb on the nose to cold Monday's in January.
