Contrasts

It's hard to find detailed information about the annual classical guitar competition in La Herradura, but S managed to track some down. So we headed there for the advertised start at 6 pm of one section of the first eliminatory round. It had actually started at 5:30 but it wasn't a problem as you could arrive and leave between performers.

We heard four guitarists perform free programmes of 15 minutes. We left without knowing who made it to the next round, but our tip for the win was left-handed Spaniard Alvaro Toscano. His pieces displayed not just technical accomplishment but soul as well; I particularly liked the piece by Nuccio d'Angelo, Due canzoni lidie. We shall see if we're proved right later in the week.

In other news: Mystère still limping but not as badly as he was last night. Still don't know why, and he's still confined to the house and doesn't seem to mind too much. S still coughing. And I had a haircut.
