Wanderings & Witterings

Tower

Our first Ramblers Wednesday walk of 2020 was a pleasant, if occasionally muddy, walk in Alloa. What a difference, though, in the weather compared to yesterday! Tuesday's rain was replaced by blue skies, although it was a few degrees colder, which caused us no great hardship.

We had decided last year to dispense with a Christmas Lunch and instead have a festive lunch early in the New Year. Today was that day, which meant that our walk was shorter than usual for a Wednesday.

Our route took us past Alloa Tower and later afforded good views of Clackmannan Tower (pictured) as we made our way to the Black Devon Wetlands and the RSPB bird hide there. The highlight, though, was the sight of a kestrel which seemed to hover almost immobile in the air for ages before swooping down on some unsuspecting prey.

Back in Alloa there was time for a quick change of clothes before sitting down to a quite excellent meal.
