Night Walk for Edinburgh

In the festival the Night walk for Edinburgh was produces by Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller. Apparently it was critically acclaimed, and we decided to book a slot and did it this evening. The website had the following – “Pick up a screen and a pair of headphones and set off for an hour's adventure with the artist's voice in your ears and magical scenes unfolding on a screen in your hand. Part game-playing, part surrealistic poetry, even murder mystery, the Night Walk is layered with history, invention and memories.” I enjoyed it as it was a harmless walk for an hour following the route with a phone that had the story on it. It was a wee bit odd as the sounds you heard were from the recording and I found myself moving out of the way as people approached from behind. But it didn’t really tell me anything and I didn’t learn anything either; typical arty farty stuff really.
The blip is a picture of the scene on the phone with today’s view behind on Advocate’s Close.
