Flat grey with good dollops of drizzle, so unfortunately little chance to catch anything interesting. 
Just out of shot was a chap with with a metal detector. I was hoping he would discover something like a gold Saxon amulet so I could capture the occasion. No such luck however, not even a ring pull from a can. 
He told me the most interesting things he'd ever found were lead pellets, and equipment for making them, from the English Civil war (seventeenth century.) Apparently there was a place about six miles away, where they were then produced.
