Instrument of Sasine

Today's the day ……………………… for legal jargon

I'm really not sure what I have achieved today - apart from making a pot of soup.  It wasn't a day to venture out, what with gale-force winds and driving rain so I was inside pottering about.  That's when I got caught up with Will's family history researches - except that today, he's been delving into the history of our house.

When we moved in, the previous owners had left a couple of box files containing lots of ancient legal documents - some of them carefully handwritten with pen and ink - going right back to when the house was first built in 1842.  Each one was a treasure trove of information - or, at least it was when you could manage to decipher what all the legal language meant.  Then it was a case of trying to match up names with on-line censuses and family trees - and slowly building up a picture of how things might have been here.

And before you knew what was happening, the day was over ………………...
