On the bus

We decided to take the bus into Chalakudy to do a little shopping and experience the chaos of a busy town. The bus was full and there were no windows. I felt that every tooth in my mouth would fall out so rattling was the ride! A kind lady told us when to get off and then we wandered around. There was a huge array of produce in the shops and in the market. I eventually came away with two shirts, some flip-flops and a pencil sharpener. The pencil sharpener was a bargain at 3p! Crossing the road was interesting in that it basically involved standing in the road as traffic weaved past you and slowly making progress to the other side - very scary! We decided to take a tuk tuk back but the driver got lost and he had to ask people the way. In the afternoon I went for a another bike ride to the temple on a circular route. This time I went with Meera, an Indian Kenyan lady from London who is staying in the same homestay and who has been good company over the last few days. Her Hindi has been very useful on occasions when we have needed longer explanations of things.Tonight will be our last yoga before we move on to another homestay but the yoga should continue there.
