Maybe the birds have to wait for the crab apples ( and other red berry things) to get soft and very old before they like therm?    Caught a whole bunch of robins having a feast in the sunlight thru the front window.      Starlings in the extra.  Wonderful Fika  this morning with a friend I haven't seen for a long time,
