Fluke

A complete and utter fluke.  I took this perfect little rosehip with my phone on a brighter than bright day, had no idea what I was taking, and this turned out.

The rose is Rosa hugonis (Golden Rose of China) a species rose that has the most deliciously tiny bright red rosehips, wich are so attractive.  the foliage is healthy, apple green and fern-like, and the thorns (of which there are many) are also bright red.   It is one of the first roses to flower in Spring with tiny polished buttercup-yellow single flowers.

It's a lovely bush and well worth a place in the garden if you can find it.  It would make a good hedge, except that it's deciduous, and does look a mess in winter.  But gosh, for 10 months of the year it really puts on a show.

(I should write for a garden catalogue).
