Rebellion

A lovely frosty sunny morning, so instead of taking the tube from London Bridge to Euston, I briskly walked the 3 miles or so and still arrived in good time. Walking through the City is more of a pleasure at the weekend as there are less people on the streets and less vehicles on the roads.

I had a conversation with my brother last night about the Mayor of London's efforts to reduce air pollution. In 2013 a nine year old girl from Hither Green (where my brother works as a driving test examiner) suffered a fatal asthma attack and a new inquest will investigate the claim that air pollution was responsible.

The Mayor of London introduced an Ultra Low Emissions Zone in the City in April last year and since thenReports have shown improvements in air quality. The zone will be gradually extended over the next two years..at present there are 360 primary schools in areas with illegal levels of air pollution.

I'm writing this on the train speeding north. We have had to divert via Manchester which means a delay of over 60 minutes. Sadly it sounds as though there was a fatality at Crewe.
