Sooty Oystercatcher (Haematopus fuliginosus)

Wouldn't you just want to change your scientific name if you were a Sooty. Not the cleanest of shots but there was a convention of them down at the baths this evening. If I get a better shot for BlipBigYear I may replace it.

Not much else happened today. A cruise ship left the harbour this evening which is always entertaining for Novacastrians as anything like this is still a bit of a novelty. The guns at Fort Scratchly were fired as it left frightening young children, the elderly and birds. Mum and I spent most of the day gardening. It only got to 24C and now it is raining. I think I will need the electric blanket tonight...
