P-P-P-Pick up a...

No, not that sort!!

I went to the Shipley Art Gallery this afternoon with my sister. A kind-of "happy birthday" but more importantly just to spend some time.

They had a couple of rooms with displays all about Penguin publishing and how it developed over the last 70 years (including Pelican and Puffin aswell). One small section was a collection of Puffin books selected by a child from her collection... the "Little House" series, the "Anne of Green Gables" series and the Narnia books were all amongst her choices... brought a wave of nostalgia, I loved them all.

There was also a light box where you could design your own classic Penguin cover, so that provided a useful blip :)

I also learned that Willow Pattern has to have a particular list of elements within the pictorial design to be truly classed as a Willow Pattern (never knew that!). there was an interesting display showing examples through the ages all the way to a contemporary design with quite a modern feel!
