A SAD DAY ....

... the weather came to be again today, above 40 deg C with hi changing winds. AND, of course this meant the fires lifted again mainly down South and around Canberra.

I Blipped this C130 Firefighting plane on the 14th December as it flew in the red skies to help in the fighting.

Today it left here from Richmond Base to head down to the fires out of Canberra, and yet to be known how, but came to its fate and crashed killing the three on board.

Say what you like about the season, but this has really brought it home when the "helper" has also been taken by the terrible conditions.

If I have "broken some Blip law".... by re Blipping this shot then so be it, but needed to record.

We were hoping the change in weather cycle had ended these days, but apparently not.

On the subject of weather, up North around Darwin they are experiencing their wettest period for a few years. Shame we are still to learn how to harvest all the wet up North in the Cyclonic season and pipe it down South to areas of Queensland and be introduced to the main Murray River Basin rivers.
Back in 1938 The designer of our iconic Harbour Bridge - Bradfield also proposed a scheme to do this... info on WIKI here, and the Government are still talking about it!!!

Thoughts to the crew lost today.
