Castelo de Paderne

Once, the hamlet of Paderne sat at the feet of its castle (built 1189). An earthquake in 1755 destroyed much of the castle and dwellings. Today, the 'new' town of Paderne lies 2km north, glimpsed through this castle archway. There's a new sign nearby announcing EU funding for 'refurbishment' work on the castle. I like it just the way it is.
