East Window

Popped into Northleach Church this morning and picked up a copy of the latest Benefice Magazine. Stiffknees snowdrops on the cover!

We're not churchgoers and as often happens we were approached and welcomed to the church. The guides are always surprised when we say we have lived in Northleach for over 20 years. On a previous visit we did get the story about the lovely stained glass window, but I'd forgotten the details. I looked it up and it was installed in 1964 and there is a small figure in the bottom corner offering up a model of the church. It depicts John Fortey, a wool trader of the 15th century, and commemorates his great financial gift to the church in his will in 1458.
