Bracing

Despite more grey skies we headed off to Longniddry for Kt to do a beach ride. T and I headed down to the beach ahead of them and had a good wander, exploring (empty) rock pools, combing the sand for sea glass and any other treasures - lots of oyster shells here which you don’t get at Portobello and flocks of oyster catchers noisily exploring alongside us on the rocks.
When the horses arrived we watched them gallop along past us, and then take a paddle before heading back through the trees and lanes. We chatted with a man walking a spotty dog and walked some more on the beach then headed back to the stables for when they returned.
Off to Gullane for lunch in the Bonnie Badger pub (more Tom Kitchin!). Delicious...I had fish pie and Kt’s reinvention of ham egg and chips was stunning...whole small glazed ham hock!
All the fresh air and good food was making us all feel a bit snoozy so we headed back home and I knitted whilst they snoozed and read.
Off to the Dominion to see 1917. I was apprehensive as I hate gory and violent films but actually it was amazing and not like I expected. Really very good, despite a too hot room!
Home and had a wee dram to celebrate Burns night whilst I did some more knitting and they watched something about vegan diets...fascinating. Late to bed but another good one....this feels like we’ve had a week off not just a couple of days!
