Out and About

Pruning time

It's pruning time in the orchards. Lucky for the orchardists, the snow is mostly gone and they can get a lot of work done. This orchard is old. The trees they plant now are espaliered and are almost like grape vines. One doesn't see many of these really old trees around anymore. They tear the old orchards up and either build houses or plant the new varieties: cosmic crisp, honey crisp, cripps pink, jazz, envy... gone are the red delicious and some of the varieties we knew as kids.
