Starry night sky

Today we went on an adventure! We travelled north to the Cairngorms to visit their Dark Skies park [ which was designated a UN recognised site in 2018]. Having found our preferred site we got all set up ....the wind was rising and the temperature dropping [ it reached 0 degrees C but was feeling like -4 apparently] and then the car's electronic fob died! We were at least an 8-10 minute drive from the nearest houses! With a lot of fiddling we got the car started again but had to leave it running and as its a nice modern car.....could turn off the headlights or rear lights! Which rather defeated the dark skies but provided some interesting lighting effects.I've included a couple of extras of these. The main blip is Venus [ top of image between the clouds ] and the new moon.

Then N's telescope started to play silly games! The stars and the night sky were amazing however and well worth the trip and challenges.

We eventually gave up about 3 hours later and retreated to dinner and wine in the hotel but have had to leave the car open all night.
