Riding the breeze

A much cooler day, with a brisk westerly wind, making my afternoon walk round Thorpe Meadows quite bracing. It was actually more of a trudge; although the river level's dropped, the valley's still wet and slimy, with a generous layer of slippery silt in some areas. By the time I got back to the car my knee was feeling the strain.

I'd been hoping to photograph the resident seal in better light, but although it popped up briefly quite close to me, it then vanished completely, probably staying out of the wind. Conversely, the gulls seemed to be enjoying the conditions, alternating spells of riding the breeze with periods loafing on the water's edge.
