Growing…

………………………..Up

And as we all know, it means larger ‘clothes’.

This caterpillar has wriggled its way out of the old skin, the wrinkled pile of black behind it and again has room to grow before reaching the next stage of its cycle.

It was a pity I only saw the last moments of it emerging from the old skin. The new skin is very soft and it takes about an hour for its new replacement face to harden, then the caterpillar eats to old skin. Nature is quite amazing.

This was taken inside with dark safety glass as a backdrop and window light illuminating the skin and monarch caterpillar.

This is another photo for the Monarch butterfly series

Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s ‘claws galore’.
