Driving through the small town of Waipukurau on our way to Wellington we saw two ladies struggling with this structure covered in crotcheted squares. We had to stop and have a better look. They explained it had been part of a Christmas Tree made of three parts the squares made and donated from around the world. Both ladies had originated in England. One left the UK in 1952 and the other left in 1963.
