A flash of blue

Wednseday turned out a lucky day for me when adding to my list of garden ticks. Most keen birders have several lists of birds both seen and heard....lists such as life lists, yearly lists and garden lists. My garden list includes birds seen from the back garden as well as those that visit it. Whilst out filling the feeders a flash of blue caught my eye and looking over the garden fence I spotted what I think is a male Kingfisher rather than female sitting over the ditch next to me. The female has what we term as lipstick on her lower mandible and I can't see any in the picture. This was a total first for me from the back garden so well chuffed.
