A Day At A Time.

The Morning After

Well, I didn't need to show my Residencia documents to get breakfast at the chiringuito this morning.

And the seagulls were still swirling around the rocks. And I don't believe these sailors were making a dash for Blighty.

In fact, everything seems comfortingly the same as it was yesterday.

According to the British ambassador, we are guaranteed our healthcare, our pensions and our rights to live and work in our adopted country.

As long as we are here legally, of course.

That will be a problem for the many Brits who think they can freeload here on the Costa, pay no tax, drive their UK-plated cars around and generally abuse the system for as long as they like.

But not for those of us who long ago embraced the Spanish way of life and all it involves. Even though it can be a bit frustrating at times.

It's always worth doing it properly.
