A long day.....

I had to take Stephen to A and E just after lunchtime.
He’d been doubled up in pain frequently during the night. I rang 111 this morning, the Helpline, and they then arranged a call back from a doctor. Ours is closed at weekends.
The response from that was to go straight to our local hospital.
As parking is a nightmare we went by taxi. It isn’t far as the crow flies.
Before his initial assessment he was so bad two nurses came and sat him in a wheelchair as they were worried he would faint.
They were incredibly busy as ever, and obviously anyone coming in by ambulance takes precedence.
So it was a two and a half hour wait.
The young doctor who eventually saw him was so courteous and thorough, and concerned.
Fortunately all main health checks done, blood pressure, temperature and so on, he was diagnosed with a chronic urine infection, (the doctor initially thought it could be kidney stones).
So we got home at teatime, complete with antibiotics.
I’ve put the “patient” to bed, and I’m plying him with drinks of warm water, as he is dehydrated.
I am now about to put my feet up and watch a vintage episode of “Yes Minister” being screened this evening in memory of the inimitable Derek Fowlds, who died recently.
Followed by, wait for it, “Casualty” !
Oh the irony!
So grateful for all who helped this afternoon.
The photo is one I took at 5.15pm just having a breath of fresh air walking up the garden.
The solar powered lamp is now fully charged once more, and you can see that it wasn’t quite dark at that time.
