Kaikoura

I like Kaikoura and always try to squeeze in a few days here. It is the marine capital in my books - seabirds, seals, whales, dolphins - it has them all in abundance. The sea gives it's bounty in this place which is why the Maori call it Kaikoura - Kai = food/eat, koura = crayfish. Last night for supper l had squid and then mussels.
The white spikey rocks you can see in the front are from the 7.8 earthquake in November 2016 which lifted the inshore platform from .5 to a gigantic 5.5 meters. Older stones are smooth and rounded.
