If The Boot Fits

When I was a child, growing up in Northampton, there were dozens of boot and shoe manufacturers and the county was considered England's footwear 'capital'. The town's shoe making history dates back almost 900 years, though the industry has been in steady decline since the 1960s and now only a handful of manufacturers remain, at the luxury end of the market.

In commemoration of the town's shoe making history, giant shoe sculptures have been erected around the town.
