Mono Monday 315 :: MM315 :: Looking Out

MMC20 #03

Looking out from the 'Friends Cafe', Orpington Hospital, aka Ontario Military Hospital, No. 16 Canadian General Hospital or Ontario Ward. First built in 1916 to receive Canadian wounded it had 1000 beds then doubled in size in 1917.

Today only the clock tower survives of the wooden huts used as wards. They did survive until the 1980s, I was a guest in one myself back then.

Pionient visit for a routine blood test having just watched the film 1917 this morning. Very much a day of looking back as well as looking out.
