This holy well dates back to if not before AD620 pilgrims would come and tie a cloth or 'Cloot' that had been in contact with someone suffering an illness and tie it to a branch. People still come today believing it has healing powers whether you find this intriguing, emotive, spiritual, creepy or even an eyesore, there is no mistaking its presence at the side of the road.
