Flood Pond

Following yesterday's Blip, this is taken from the same spot but looking in the other direction, towards our property.

The pond is about 10cm deep, it is the initial excavation that started last week for what will become our nearest neighbour building. Ex hunter Bello who featured the other day, has a wood selling business. Now it is his son who does it. They have got planning permission to build a new storage building.

The fact that it is being built does not as such bother me and won't in any way affect us. I don't want to get into too much politics but it is a total mystery to me that permission was granted given the site is prone to flooding. The excavations are part of some massive dam wall that has to be built. And the other point, just 50 metres away,  the family have a massive empty brick storage building that was only built about 20 years ago & which was never used. Very strange.

Yesterday the area was absolutely dry but the rain arrived overnight and is set to cause flooding. Very luckily it stopped for exactly the length of our evening walk. However, the cellar pump is now no longer coping with the water & I need to keep an eye on it to see if a second pump has to be put in.
