This is a life-sized monument dedicated to the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson.  It depicts two of the characters in his novel 'Kidnapped' - Alan Breck Stewart and David Balfour - who famously departed near this spot.

The statue was made by Alexander Stoddard and unveiled by Sir Sean Connery in 2004 . . . . . . .
