On the 27th January 1945 the living hell that was the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was liberated, and 75 years later an exhibition of 75 portraits of survivors of the Holocaust opened at Zeche Zollverein in Essen, each is accompanied by a few lines of their own words.
It’s a powerful and sobering reminder of the hideousness that man can do.
But the photography is awe inspiring.
