Windy Walney Waders

I drove over to Barrow this morning and crossed the bridge over onto Walney Island to visit the South Walney Reserve.  It was cold and windy but the birdlife on the shore was amazing.  In this picture alone there are four species of waders;  from the left Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Redshank and Oystercatcher.  Also present were Turnstone, Curlew, Eider, Cormorant and Brent Geese.  It's a bleak place but wonderful for birds and it has great views of Piel Castle and the distant Lakeland Fells.
