Storm Ciara

In the morning we visited my parents in Stadskanaal (and watched an episode of André Rieu on TV together...what else); my mum made soup and after lunch we drove back home to Delfzijl. Storm Ciara is picking up in force more and more, and we were blown home in no time.

In the afternoon Peter and I went for a bit of storm chasing.
With Ciara raging over the The Netherlands now, we hoped to capture a dramatic photo.

First we went to the Delfzijl harbour, but since Ciara is coming from the south west, there was not much going on there. Wind and water were blowing out of the harbour. I expected that already.

We then went to lake Schildmeer, nearby. More waves were to be expected there. And Schildmeer delivered! The water was wild.
But unfortunately as soon as we were behind our tripods with our heads full in the wind, Ciara decided to not only blow wind in our face, but also a downpoor.
After just a few exposures, we were driven back inside the car.
That was it. No more photos! "Adieu mein kleine Schildmeer..."

Before we knew it we were back home, having a nice hot coffee!

I don't think I'll be going outside anymore today.
With code orange and advises to stay inside coming in by news headline messages, it's better to obey that.
