Jugs

Storm Ciara hit West Yorkshire with force today. The winds were bad but nothing like Oct ‘87 or Jan ‘90 but the rain was indescribable.

Our pond was overflowing which we have never seen before, and it seemed to have disturbed the frogs which were seen for the first time this year ( almost a month early) all over the gravel.

We saw on Facebook that the Malt had closed so we rang Ricspics to see if he needed any help. Mr H emptied the cellar using two jugs, two buckets and a pump which kept getting blocked with debris. My leg muscles are seizing up this evening after carrying  said buckets many times and emptying. When we left it had stopped raining and the pub was drying out nicely inside, and sandbagged on the out side. Sadly it is raining again now.

So good to see many people turn out across the village to help all those in need. We get told constantly that the world is divided but when push comes to shove I think all our differences are forgotten and we all pull together.

Hope you are all safe, and that these howling gales, and biblical downpours stop soon.
