Snow on the hills

We didn't know what to expect for our journey north today - the forecast was for wind, rain, hail, snow. We wondered whether we should go over the A66, whether we would have to stay at Scotch Corner as we did once before, whether we would get through Appleby.

Anyway we set off this morning after a lovely overnight stay in a rather nice old Tudor house hotel for which Gordon had got a bargain dinner, bed and breakfast deal. We set off in sunshine, which continued for most of the journey. We did come across some high winds and we did have one hail shower, but actually it was all okay. By the time we got to the A66 the roads were dry and the sun shone. The only snow was on the hills. And the river in Appleby is back to normal.

Of course as soon as we had emptied the car we had a blizzard. That might put Gordon off setting out again to watch football in Carlisle. On the other hand it might not.

Good to be home. We seem to have been away for such a long time. Now to sort all the photos!!
