Sgwarnog: In the Field

Rise

I'd been living in Bradford for nine years before I got along to my first City game, although the main draw on that occasion was Nephew #3 who was turning out for the opponents, Blackburn Rovers. Five and a half years on I found myself watching the Bantams for the hundredth time. The only players to appear on both occasions being Nephew #3 and his team mate, Chris Taylor, who have both swapped Rovers for City in the meantime.

Tonight was a lower key occasion than Saturday's return of McCall, with the weather keeping many away and only a few hardy away fans making the journey up from Stevenage. The pitch was very heavy, leading to a lot of passes and feet getting caught up in the mud, and there were a few snow showers to keep things interesting.

Bottom of the table Stevenage took the lead against the run of play and it was 0-1 at the break. City responded with two quick goals early in the second half, and added a third in the closing minutes to secure their first win since New Year's Day.

I've gone mono for a change. The moon rose nicely over the other side of the valley during the second half. Hopefully the team can start to rise back up the league table too.
