Woke up this morning to find the huge plane tree outside my window being felled. This is it here back in 2013.
It has been out there my entire life, and must have been at least 80 years old if not Victorian. It leaned a bit but has done that for many years and seemed solid.
The change? A new cycle path is being installed which means all the pavements have been narrowed and the tree was now closer to the road. (We also lost a bus lane.)
So it's destroyed. For a lot of cyclists who can't be bothered to obey the basic rules of the road. (Not saying ALL the cyclists, but I see a lot on pavements and ignoring lights, so when I turn comments back on don't bother lecturing me about it.)
