Dad

Today is my Dad's 81st Birthday:

Dad was born in 1932 & left School aged 14 in 1946 and started a tailoring apprentiship & then spent 2 years on National Service based in Germany. Following his Army years he worked as a regimental tailor in Oswestry & Shrewsbury barracks.
He was in involved in a motor cycle accident while travelling to Norton barracks Nr Worcester, in which he suffered a fractured spine and spent some 12 months in plaster recovering.

After his accident he worked a Shrewsbury's Sentinel works as a trainee engineering machinist, & later Rolls Royce in Shrewsbury.
He was working here when I was born in 1963, my sister in 1964 & brother in 1966.
His last working years were spent working at Oakley's in Shrewsbury & AV Birch in Bridgnorth, a grand total of 51 years!

Dad has 9 grandsons & 1 granddaughter.

Since his retirement in 1997 he has enjoyed photography, jigsaws, matchstick models and learned to use a computer.  My sons thoroughly enjoy listening to stories from his lifetime, in particular his tales from his army years.

In this picture he is sitting on a chair handed down to him by his parents that is over 100 years old.

Happy Birthday Dad.
