Taking cover

For sentimental reasons, LH and I wanted to walk along Colley Hill, the escarpment above Reigate where we lived when first married and where LH worked. The views to the south are far reaching and glorious. However, today the rain chose to overflow again and the views were minimal. On the plus side, Berry didn't care one iota and enjoyed trying to catch raindrops (extra), and we had respite from the heavens by sheltering in a wonderful structure called the Inglis Memorial.

This looks like a little Grecian temple (extra) and comes complete with a striking mosaic ceiling, but was actually built by a local worthy and donated to the public as a drinking fountain for horses. I do like the whimsy and magic of it. As a child, it was where Dad and whichever kid was with him paused and rested on a dog walk before the long trek back home. As a young married couple LH and I used to walk up the steep scarp slope from our flat and take a breather there. As parents with a small child it was a place to play hide and seek and marvel at the ceiling.

Honestly, it didn't really matter that it poured with rain!
