i am old enough to remember the last of the tenaments in Dublin...at worst.up to 17 families in one house ..one outside loo..women having to haul buckets of water up dark uneven staircases..army coats for blankets...and although life became easier for woman when they were moved out to the newly built suburbs,  they regreted the loss of community and the  one big family the tenaments provided where everyone looked after everyone was gone forever.
