Carnethy 5

Today was the 50th Carnethy 5 Hill Race. This was taken on the start line, just before we headed into the valley and up the hill on the left. After three others, without much more climb, there's a big drop back down before the climb back up to Carnethy itself on the right of the picture. From this 5th hill, it's a madly steep descent on heather and scree back to where we started. Although very windy, conditions weren't so bad at the start, but they deteriorated significantly during the race. It was great to have the support of the marshals all round the course, none noisier than nadinepierce on top of South Black Hill!

Every five races there is a mug for all competitors - and now I have five - and a bottle of beer [see extra] but that's not why we do it! The answer is, well, hard to say on a day like this!
