Carnethy 5

Storm Dennis was definitely the focus of much of the day with it being the Carnethy 5 hill race at which we Marshall every year.
We were back up on South Black Hill, it was brutal getting up there this time - lots of deep snow to get through.

Conditions on the top weren’t great, actually slightly less windy than last year when I kept getting blown over. The continuous mix of rain, sleet, snow and hail were all quite challenging though. Sparserunner seemed to be taking it all in his stride as he went past - never ceases to amaze me how cheery some of them are when their faces are being blown backwards and they can barely open their eyes due to wind/rain etc.

This year was the 50th year of the race so we got another mug to add to the collection.

After getting home and drying off and warming up it was time to get cooking for our traditional post-race feast with fellow marshals/neighbours.
