The north wind doth blow

Okay, this obviously isn't a robin but I was reminded of the above rhyme thinking of this blackbird trying to keep itself warm by hiding its head under its wing. Poor thing.

I've a bird feeder in the garden and its been resolutely ignored by the avian population for the past few months. Only over the past week or so have I seen the odd sparrow come along for a peck. I guess it's becoming harder for them to find food all by themselves. I must get some table or feeder that the bigger birds (like this blackbird) can perch on rather than just sit around waiting for crumbs from the smaller birds.
