In Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester there is a tree planted to commemorate the thousand of people who died in the Halabja gas attack. Unremarkable tree but each year on this day it gets covered in white paper doves and makes a remarkably moving sight.

I am always reminded of Edmund Burkes quote "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
