Russian Influences

There are reminders in various places that at one time Finland was ruled by the Russians. Before them it was the Swedes but it was the Russians who finally granted Finnish Independence. This morning I had to visit the hospital for blood tests and with time on my hands I mooched around the tiny Orthodox Chapel grounds and graveyard which contains a mass grave of Red fighters and supporters slain during the Finnish Civil War of 1918.
According to this gravestone (not part of the mass grave) one Sergei Makarovsky passed away at the age of just 35 years.
