Masada
The top of the Masada sanctuary for the zealots who rebelled against Rome. A Roman army of 10,000 soldiers of the 10th legion with 20,000 slaves were sent to put down the rebellion of 972 Jews. The history can be read elsewhere, but the engineering and capabilities to live on this mountain plateau are amazing.
