Doubtful Sound....

...although technically it is a fiord. We crossed over to Doubtful Sound to spend an afternoon, evening and the following morning aboard a boat. Not the easiest of places to reach, a boat, a bus and then on to our home for the night. The first day was glorious but it the poured overnight which gave us amazing waterfalls and mists.
Most of the watery photos l have put up so far have shown stunning blue waters, Doubtful Sound gave me black waters - this caused by a mixture of the tannins washed down off the mountains by the 6 meters of rain which fall annually and the fact that a layer of fresh water sits on top of seawater giving it an unusual density.
